The Battle of Mona

In the Louvre we of course went to see Da Vinci's portrait of Lisa Gherardini (Mona Lisa) but we weren't expecting there to be such a crowd. I decided to battle the masses and work my way through the hoards to get a photo of her so in I went as Luani stood back by the Wedding feast of Cana. I was in there for a good twenty minutes, don't ask Luani because she'll lie anyway, after being pushed stood on and elbowed in the head more times than I'd care to remember I made it to the front of the crowds only to have the camera decide it wasn't worthy to photograph her. Despite my best efforts he just wouldn't take a photo so I had to resort to my phone because there was no way I was fighting my way out without a photo.

I call the following sequence The Battle of Mona

All of that effort to have her blocked by these two and their fat heads

This photo is so bad but I feel that the story behind it makes up for its poor quality.

Louvre with Peter

If ever there was a good time to have a pocket historian, our trip to the louvre was it.
and who better to have as a pocket historian than Peter Mahoney?!

We set out early in an attempt to beat the queue, unfortunately so did everyone else.
Peter took us around to see Venus de Milo, the winged victory, Mona, The wedding feast of Cana, The coronation of Emperor Napoleon I and the Crowning of Empress Josephine, Liberty leading the people, Michelangelos Slave and so so so much more! We lunched in Cafe Mollien on the landing of the Mollien staircase and lucked out with the best seats in the house overlooking the Tuileries gardens.
At lunch Peter gave us lessons on how to take photos in places where photos are forbidden;
using your iphone, open camera and hold it up to your ear as though you were on a call and maddly press the 'capture' button
(We later had the pleasure of witnessing Peter's sly photo taking skills in Rome, it was hilarious, so obvious that he was taking photos and not one of the photos worked out)
In most other galleries it's the eyes that follow you around the room, but surrounded by sculptures in the louvre, it's the bottoms that follow you.

It was a fantastic day of bombardment and I loved every second of it!

ain't no party like a louvre queue party

New Years

The original plan was to go to Champs Elysée but after learning several times that our plan wasn't so great we decided to fill up on dominoes pizza, head down to Champ de Mars then go back to Ace's for a good old game of monopoly.

This is how the evening actually unfolded:
Father of the Bride 2, Fous ta cagoule, Eiffel tower, baileys and chocolate ice cream, monopoly, Krystle naked in the cold with her toes up her nose, Luani dead

haha
I saved that on my phone on the night, I can't actually remember where the Krystle naked outside thing came from. I think we were daring each other to do things in exchange for property haha

Ace's mother kindly gave me her hat to keep my head toasty warm
